Can you really get free one way links? Yes and no. In a perfect world, if you have “good content” (which is such a relative thing), many other sites would want to link to your content on your site. However, in the real world, you’d be lucky that they find you at all in the first place. And without good visibility in the search engines, intentional promotions, and the necessary backlinks to help you rank high and get traffic, you are most likely never going to see the light of the day.
Rather than leaving the fate of your website to other websites discovering you and linking to you all on their own, you need a more controllable strategy. You need to make sure you are consistently building links to your sites and even your deep pages. And while link exchange is worth something, it is not nearly as powerful as having non-reciprocal, one way links.
So whether you have good content or average content, when you have more and more backlinks linking into your site, you will gradually rank higher and higher for your selected keywords (which is determined mostly by the anchor texts used on these incoming links). This is the essense of ranking well, in a nutshell. Yes there are other factors as well, but believe me, if you will just build one way links consistently, say, 1 or 2 new links a day, you will rank high. It’s just a matter of time. Most people fail to rank well because they do not have this consistency.
So how do you get consistency in building powerful one way links? You can do it manually, and reply on your perfect discipline and your ability to convince other sites to link to you, without you linking to them. If you are perceptive, you will see that it’s very tough to ask people for something if you don’t give them something of value in return. So how do you find a bunch of sites that WANT to give you back links without you having to link directly back to them?
The answer is actually really simple. One of the best ways I’ve found for building free one way links is to join a reputable link exchange program that allows non-reciprocal link exchange (which essentially is one-way) that works behind the scenes automatically, so that you don’t have to worry about it once you set it up. Check out this automated one way link exchange community which I’m also using for many of my site. It is just awesome to have this automated!
